Today is the first day of a new year: 2026.
It could be just another day, and in fact it is, but it is the perception of what it represents that makes it different from the other 364.
Today my thoughts go to all those who have lost the color of life, who see only gray, who can no longer perceive its colors and extraordinary shades.
To those who have lost their way along life’s path and now wander in the dark, without a light to guide them.
To those who feel the deepest loneliness while living among thousands of people.
My thoughts go to those who have found themselves living on the streets, to those who have lost everything, absorbed by a vortex that dragged them to the bottom.
My thoughts go to those who feel lost, crushed by the system, oppressed by banks, debt, and taxes.
My thoughts go to those who walk the streets feeling invisible, crossing hundreds of empty gazes, brushing past other human beings who are unaware and indifferent.
We live in a society that is increasingly cynical and indifferent to all of them, to all those who would only need a glance, a word of comfort, or simply a minimum of consideration.
I want to tell all of them that they still possess the most precious asset: time.
No matter how hard the situation may be, how dark the night may seem, because no matter how dark it is, dawn will come and the light will return. It is only a matter of time.
Be masters of your time, make darkness your ally, do not give up, do not surrender, because the sun will rise again, and that is as certain as life itself.
My thoughts also go to all those who, during these holiday days, have worked and continue to work to make us feel safer, to ensure those essential services that hold a community together. To them, I want to express a huge thank you.
Finally, my thoughts go to all those who are far from home, far from their families. I know well what it feels like during this time of year to be thousands of miles away.
Today is the first day of a new year.
Another turn around the sun.
Another season of life has ended, making space for the new one.
I will not wish you serenity, prosperity, and all those beautiful words that have now become just another empty formality.
What I wish for you is to work hard, to find strength and courage in the most difficult choices.
I wish for you to give meaning to every moment you will live, because you will be the projection of your choices, the small ones as well as the great ones.
I wish for you, every day, to be a better version of yourself than the day before.
Because if the beat of a butterfly’s wings can change the wind on the other side of the world,
then each of us, every single day,
can be that beat.
Happy new year folks!
